Award 2008 — Dr med.sci. Tomasz Stokłosa |
|

Dr Tomasz Stokłosa, a member of the scientific Staff of the Department of Immunology within the Biostructural Centre of the Warsaw Medical University, received the 2008 Award for his studies of the molecular causes of resistance to pharmaceuticals in the treatment of bone marrow leukemia. Besides his intensive scientific work as director or lead researcher of several study projects, dr Stokłosa plays an active part in teaching (lectures on Immunology) and editorial work (Editor of the international Journal “Central European Journal of Biology”). |

Award 2007 — Professor Tomasz Szczepański |

Professor Tomasz Szczepański, a member of the scientific staff of the Institute and Clinic of Pediatrics, Haematology and Children Oncology, Silesian Medical Academy in Katowice, received the 2007 Award for exceptional contributions to the research on "minima residua disease" in childhood leukemias. His achievements have contributed greatly to the understanding of pathogenesis of acute lymphoblastic leukemia in children, and to the promise of future advances in diagnostics and effective therapies. |

Award 2005 — Assistant professor Cezary Cybulski |

Assistant professor Cezary Cybulski , a member of the scientific staff of the Institute of Genetics and Pathomorphology, Pomeranian Medical University, Szczecin, won the 2005 Award for his achievements in the field of hereditary tumours. His most important work at that time was the elaboration of a DNA test to detect predisposition to malignant tumours of various kinds, thereby facilitating prophylaxis and improving the results of applied treatment. |

Award 2004 — Professor Rafał Tarnawski |

Professor Rafał Tarnawski took the 2004 Award. He was a member of the scientific staff of the Center of Oncology, Gliwice Branch of the Marie Skłodowska Curie Institute of Oncology and was chosen for his outstanding contribution in the field of clinical radiobiology and radiotherapy.
His research projects include investigation of the influence of genetic differentiation of brain tumours on prognosis and cure. |

Award 2003 — Professor Jakub Gołąb |

 In 2003 Professor Jakub Gołąb, a member of the scientific staff of the Laboratory of Immunology, Center of Biostructure, Medical University, Warsaw, won the 2003 Award for his outstanding contribution in the field of cancer therapy on experimental models and improvement of its effectiveness.
Working under the direction of Professor Marek Jakóbisiak, Dr. Gołąb started his research while still a student.
His scientific interests at that time were the photodynamic therapy of tumours, improvement of its effectiveness by diminishing the toxicity of applied drugs, and recognition of defence mechanisms of cells.

Award 2002 — Assistant professor Piotr Kozłowski |
|

The winner of the first Award made by Foundation was Assistant professor Piotr Kozłowski, a 31-year old geneticist from Poznań. He was chosen from eight candidates active in the field of cancer research.
Working at the Laboratory of Cancer Genetics, Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Dr Kozłowski was researching a promising method of diagnosing genetic defects leading to cancerous diseases, particularly breast and ovarian cancer.
He began research while still a student, when his supervisor, Prof Włodzimierz Krzyżosiak, in an unconventional move, invited a number of promising undergraduates to join his research team. |
